German medics tend a fallen soldier lying in a field of strawberries in Belgium. As their casualties mounted, German soldiers reacted with increasing brutality toward the Belgian population. Below: Wounded Belgian soldiers receive care in an Antwerp hospital. They were subsequently evacuated in buses as the Germans closed in on the city.
