Hobbamock, a Pokanoket pniese (warrior/councilman), lived with his family on the other side of the brook. As there were above ten people in his family, a neeskwetu (house with two fires) like this one could easily have accommodated a family of this size. This house was built by bending young sapling trees and covering them with the bark of birch, walnut, or chestnut trees. |
